Monthly outings
On the first Sunday of the month, members gather in one of our natural areas for a walk in order to survey, to explore, to investigate and to share with like-minded people the amazing natural biodiversity of our region of Tasmania. Within the group are knowledgeable people who are specialists in various aspects of nature, such as birds, plants, insects, fungi or slime moulds, all of whom willingly share their knowledge with other members who are there to learn more about our incredible natural world. Our walks are not speedy occasions, we are there to observe and study nature, and we don’t necessarily have a destination focus. Observations from our walks are submitted to the important repositories of our biodiversity knowledge, the state based Natural Values Atlas, the iNaturalist database, and Birdlife Australia’s Birdata (database).
